February 2022 wildlife recap

Compared to January, February of 2022 was far less eventful for photography.  I spent a lot of time culling through previous work rather than accumulating new images.  I also resumed sharing images to social media after taking a pretty break from the platform.

Kayaking with my camera

My favorite images of the month resulted from another experience using a kayak for bird photography.  The slough I kayaked in shrinks to a thin river at low tides, but turns into a much larger flood plain at high tides.  Higher tides at this location allow me to approach the bird habitat from a kayak.  The birds don’t seem to mind my kayak as a gently drift with the tide.  Sometimes I was able to beach the bow of the kayak into the mud to remain stationary for a shot.

This sea otter kept surfacing around me after diving underwater to forage for food.

Thank you for exploring my portfolio and blog.  Please reach out to me if you have questions or comments about any of these photos.
