My Introduction
August 23, 2018Welcome!
Let’s get our introductions out of the way. My name is Kameron Strickland, and I am a hobbyist wildlife photographer. I first began taking pictures of birds in the Monterey area back in 2016. Coming from a background of video and shooting a little bit of everything, I fell in love with the long glass and connection to nature involved with wildlife photography. My photographs weren’t any good, but the process of getting out to shoot taught me the local birds and locations. I learned the nuances of wildlife photography with poor gear, and eventually worked up to purchasing a Canon 400mm f/5.6L USM.
Although I am passionate about wildlife photography, it is currently a side hobby. I am completing my B.S. in Marine Science at CSU Monterey Bay, and work as a research diver for my Capstone project. Attending CSUMB has been a great opportunity to advance my wildlife photography. The campus is covered with many species of interesting birds, and many allow humans to closely approach. I’ll bring my camera gear to CSUMB and take pictures of the Monterey wildlife on my way to class!
I would like to use this platform to tell stories about my photography, as well as provide tips and answer questions about photographing birds in the Monterey Bay. Please get in touch with me and share this blog with those who would be interested!
